Placer County Grand Jury Update

“The Placer County Grand Jury recently issued a report evaluating the District's
governance and administrative practices. The report recognizes the District's strong
financial condition and reliable water service while making recommendations intended to
improve board governance, financial oversight, and director training. One recommendation
is that the District replace its contracted governmental accounting firm with an in-house
finance manager. The District currently utilizes a professional governmental accounting firm
that provides multiple levels of review and segregation of duties, and its financial
statements have consistently received unmodified opinions from independent auditors for
many consecutive years—the highest level of assurance an independent auditor can
provide. The Board of Directors is reviewing the report and will prepare its official response
as required by law.”
